The Yamaha SG was the Japanese answer to classic American guitars of the 50s and 60s and became a staple of 70s hard rock. It is famous for its contoured body and deep maple carve.

After a few years in the wilderness, the Yamaha SG is back. There are three new models, which employ some of the finest contemporary manufacturing techniques to guarantee each guitar is resonant and lively. The Yamaha SG1820 is the classic twin humbucker model in old-school finishes. The Yamaha SG1820A is for modern metal styles. It boasts active pickups and all-black and silverburst finishes. The third model - the Yamaha SG1802 - is an imagining of what these guitars look like in the early 50s, with a gold top finish and P90 single coil pickups.

Each model goes through a process known as ‘Initial Response Acceleration’. This artificially ages the guitar using vibrations to mature the wood. They feature TonePros’ lighter bridge and tailpiece design to enhance the vibration of the guitar’s body by reducing the mass of the metal parts.
